Lady Lakers

We understand that it can be daunting to take the first step in contacting a club, but joining in club training sessions really is the best way to learn about the sport of triathlon and improve your fitness in a supportive, friendly environment.

The Lakers have a buddy system for new women, so when you contact us we will put you in touch with a volunteer buddy who will answer your questions, arrange to meet you and introduce you to others at training sessions, and generally be there to help you feel comfortable as you settle in to your new Club.

As a ‘newbie’, you don’t have to join the Club before attending training, you are welcome to come along to a few training sessions to see if what we have to offer is right for you before deciding.

Another thing to bear in mind is that you don’t have to plunge straight in to full triathlon training.Β  You may wish to start with just the running sessions, or bike sessions, or swim sessions, or any combination of those and build on your fitness over time.

Many triathlons on the race calendar allow for team entries, where you can have 2 or 3 people competing as a team eg one doing the swim, one the ride and one the run.Β  This is a great way of easing in to triathlon and building confidence before tackling all three legs on your own.

So please, don’t be put off by the idea of having to be able to do it all before you can start – our Club and our training sessions are flexible enough to allow anyone to fit in, whether you’re a complete beginner or an aspiring Elite.

Take the first step by emailing Susane Belkhiati (our womens’ manager) onΒ info@lakers.com.au.
